One way to empower productivity is internal instant messaging.

There are a lot of benefits to internal instant messaging, like improving communication, and archiving historical data. Internal messaging prevents outside access to your network. This improvement in communication comes from the ability to talk to other people in different areas of the office. This also allows you to archive all the conversations so there is historical proof of conversations about certain projects.

The use of internal instant messaging is more secure than a mainstream instant messaging service because it doesn’t allow external use, which basically means it doesn’t run over the Internet but depends on an internal network. A program with outside access makes the system more vulnerable to hacking because it makes the computer an open source.

Most mainstream instant messaging systems work extremely well but allows only limited control over security, archiving conversations, and is more time consuming. It also opens the door to a lot of personal messaging. Get rid of external messengers, use a firewall to lock them down and watch productivity soar.
Let’s put it this way, mainstream instant messaging is just like passing a note in class, it might be a one to one conversation but if the wrong person comes across it they can still read it.
Some girls in middle school like to keep a notebook that gets passed around between friends; they can go back and look at past conversations. This is historical data, both mainstream and internal instant messaging have the ability to do this but like before with mainstream if the wrong person comes across this they can still access this very private information.
Now, say the notebook the girls are passing around have a lock and key to access it, like a diary, now this is more secure, only people with the right privileges can access and view this historical data. This is like internal instant messaging.
I hope today’s topic has helped with the realization of why internal instant messaging is beneficial for a company.
